INDIA, JAPAN LOOK TO ASEAN TO IMPLEMENT DIGITAL POLICIES



Mr Thirupati Nannam and Mr Pranjal Srivastava from India have made the country proud by winning 1st prize both in Grassroots Innovation Competition and Student Innovation Competition respectively held during 2nd ASEAN India Grassroots Innovation Forum 2019 at Davao City, Philippines between 20th and 22nd November, 2019.

Mr Thirupati Nannam has developed a ‘Pole Climber’ and is also a recipient of 10th Biennial National Grassroots Innovation Award by National Innovation Foundation (NIF) – India earlier this year.

Mr Pranjal Srivastava has built a ‘Thermoelectric Stove generator’ and is also a recipient of INSPIRE Awards – MANAK 2018.

The Grassroots Innovation Competition had 27 participants from 6 countries including India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Lao PDR, and Cambodia and was adjudicated by a panel of eminent jury members from Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and India.

The Student Innovation Competition had 40 participants from 7 countries which are India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Lao PDR, Cambodia and Myanmar and was adjudicated by panel of eminent jury members from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, Malaysia and India.

The winners received a trophy and a prize of USD 1500 (First), USD 1000 (Second) and USD 500 (Third) in each of the two categories.

The National Innovation Foundation (NIF) – India, Department of Science and Technology (DST), India and Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippines organized the 2nd ASEAN India Grassroots Innovation Forum 2019 at Davao City, Philippines from 20th to 22nd November, 2019.

The Grassroots Innovation Competition and Student Innovation Competition was a major highlight of the forum, along with panel discussions by representatives from seven nations -- India, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Thailand and Myanmar. An exhibition of innovations was also organized as a part of the three day forum.

The 2nd ASEAN India Grassroots Innovation Forum witnessed an active participation from India and ASEAN Member States (AMS).

An exhibition was organized during 2nd ASEAN India Grassroots Innovation forum where Grassroots Innovators and Student Innovators from India and ASEAN Member States demonstrated the merit of their innovation. H.E. Jaideep Mazumdar, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Philippines interacted with the innovators and motivated them ahead of the Grassroots and Student Innovation competitions.

A panel discussion also was organized during the forum wherein panelists from India, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Thailand and Myanmar discussed three distinct themes of contemporary importance --- Incubation of Student Innovations, Best practices of Grassroots Innovations and Grassroots Innovation Eco-system.
